Hello gorgeous soul !

My name is Sophie Bartrina and if you had asked me few years ago „who are you“, I would have answered:

I AM AN UNDER PALMTREES DANCING, COCONUT DRINKING,

SUN KISSED SKIN WAVE SURFING, JOYFUL LAUGHING,

SUMMER CRUSHED, BAREFOOT, BEACH BUM GIRL

A more detailed response is that I was born 1996 in a small German town but I am actually half Spanish and proud to have a big part of my family in Barcelona. Since I was little I traveled a lot, always searching for beautiful nature and beaches with good waves (...especially my father is a passionate surfer, snowboarder and skater, which gave me some exciting excursions away of the usual road...)

My love for painting and creating was always within me but the big turning point to change to a new dimension and use large canvases was definitely a family trip to Costa Rica in 2013.

Back then we stayed in a little surfer village with amazing beaches, surrounded by tropical forest, big waterfalls and the whole inspiring nature. The place had cute cafes and especially one of them captured my eyes immediately. It was a tasty little place owned by an Artist. The unique thing about it was that her studio was combined to the cafe and all her amazing beautiful art was hanging all over the bright walls. Since I discovered it, I wanted to visit the cafe every single day. I couldn't get enough of the happy colors and joyful vibes.

When I came back to Germany I was so inspired that I had to try it by myself. It was the first time I painted on big canvases and even when it was a whole new experience and unacquainted to me, it filled me with so much joy!

Because of that I kept doing it until today.

Even when I traveled to Australia after finishing school, I took all my colors and brushes with me. (I remember the mess when my golden powder opened and colored all the inside of my handback…). I stayed in Sydney, worked in a Cafe next to Bronte beach and painted in my leisure time.

The time flew by and when I came back home after seven months I decided to go to university to study art. This is the reason why I moved to Munich, where I am currently living, and dreaming of being able to live in the tropics one day and being able to live of my creativity.
